  |     |   Apartments, Decorating Your Apartment

Heatherwood is out to make your move-in experience the absolute best it can be! There’s nothing worse than running around at the last minute looking for a bottle of glass cleaner or dust pan (heck, you’ve got enough to worry about)! So, here’s our handy “room-by-room guide” to help you prepare for that first day in your new apartment!

First Impressions mean a lot (The Entryway)
The entryway is the first thing people notice when they visit your home so let’s make sure you have…

  • A “welcome mat” (go ahead, personalize it if you like).
  • Maybe a “coat rack” or “wall hooks” by the front door.
  • Or a “small table” for keys or mail as well as a “shoe rack” to complete the look.

Living Large (The Living Room)
Besides the obligatory couch and coffee table, there’s so much more to consider when decorating and furnishing your living room, remember to bring;

  • An “area rug”
  • “End tables”
  • “TV Stand”
  • “Bookcases” and an extra “chair,” (or maybe 2!)

Now you’re cooking (The Kitchen)
You may feel overwhelmed by all the things you think you’ll need in your new kitchen…, don’t worry… we’ve got you covered.

  • Don’t forget a “paper towel holder” and “paper towels”
  • A “garbage can,” “dish towels,” “cutting board,” “zip-lock bags” (for that leftover pizza)!
  • A “bottle opener,” “ice trays,” “fire extinguisher” and “pot holders.”
  • Lastly (and probably most important), don’t forget the “coffee maker!”

Dreaming is Free (The Bedroom)
You probably think all you need is a mattress and a blanket for your bedroom, well think again! Here’s a bunch of stuff you’ve probably missed;

  • A “bed frame”
  • “Lamps”
  • “Hangers”
  • “Nightstands”
  • “Alarm clock” (Is this still a thing?)

Bath and Body (The Bathroom)
It’s time for the room that needs the most care and attention…the bathroom! Make sure you have…

  • A “bath mat”
  • “Shower caddy”
  • “Toilet brush”
  • “Toilet paper”
  • “Plunger”
  • And most importantly if your apartment doesn’t come with shower doors you’ll need a “shower curtain,” “liner” and “shower curtain hooks”
  • Plus, “soap and shampoo”
  • “Extension cords”
  • “Small tool kit”
  • “Snow shovel”
  • “Laundry bin”
  • “Batteries”
  • “Light bulbs”
  • “Vacuum”
  • “Mop and broom”
  • “Sponges,” “dish soap,” “cleansers,” “picture nails” and “hooks”
