Choosing an apartment on Long Island or NYC is hard work! What if you make the wrong decision and end up in a place that’s located miles away from shopping, nightlife, or your friends and family? Some folks base their decision to rent an apartment on how much it costs, but we’re here to tell you… that no matter how good a deal looks on paper, there’s no substitute for finding the perfect “location” for your next apartment. Sooner or later you’ll end up “paying the price” of a poor location. Today, we’re passing along some valuable tips on how to find the perfect neighborhood to live, work and play.
Map Quest!
One of the best ways to get a real good look at something is to see the whole picture from above. So, when you’re searching for your next apartment on Long Island or New York City, just head over to google maps (or your favorite map of choice) and take an overhead look at the areas…where you work, where your closest friends and relatives live, and so on. Then, highlight those areas as potential locations to start your search. Also, “hone-in” on your favorite shopping and dining destinations too (no one wants to travel miles away from their apartment just to pick up a gallon of milk). Once you’ve found your “target area,” start your search for your new rental apartment right there.
Toes in the sand
Do you love the beach? Do you love the sound of the waves crashing on the shore? Then listen to this! As you may, or may not know, Long Island is famous for its fabulous beaches on both our North and South shores. Finding an apartment on Long Island that is located just minutes away from local area beaches is quite simple. So if you’re a “beach bum” and you’re looking for a location that’ll keep you smelling like suntan lotion all summer long, make sure you find an apartment that is conveniently located next to your favorite sandy spot! You’ll save money too, because (for now), the sun is free!
Places to Go, People to See
Do you travel for work? Maybe you’re in New York City 2 to 3 times a week? What about the New England area? Are you constantly taking a Ferry to-and-from Connecticut for business? Than make sure you choose your next apartment so that your commute is not hindered by extra travel time added to your already busy day. No amount of money saved on rent will make up for a poor quality of life.
Outdoor… for Sure!
Apartment complexes these days most often come with all the amenities a modern day apartment dweller desires; from rooftop sundecks, to fitness centers, outdoor pools, to play areas. But what if you’re the type of person that likes a calming walk in the park, a challenging hike, or a brisk bike ride!?! Then these priorities should be on the top-of-your-list when looking for an apartment to rent. Long Island has some of the best walking trails, places to bike and sights-to-see than any other location in the Northeast! And, if you love hiking, rock climbing or hunting…living in an apartment in Brooklyn or Long Island City are the most convenient locations to get from here, to there.
