This is the year heavyweight boxing champ, and infomercial superstar, George Forman defended his heavyweight boxing title against former title holder Muhammad Ali. The 55 MPH Speed Limit is imposed on state highways to help preserve gas and reduce usage and consumption in the United States. The video game Mario Bros. is released as a Nintendo “arcade game” in Japan. It would take two years, until the release of Super Mario Bros., to see this iconic video game earn its due. And Satellite Television, a new service that delivers television programming via satellites orbiting the Earth directly to the viewer's apartments is introduced.
